Installation of 3.1 million housing association solar scheme

The Oakapple Berwickshire scheme, a partnership between Oakapple Renewable Energy and Edison Energy, have been selected to install 2.6MW of solar modules, supplied by Winaico, to over 750 housing association properties in Berwickshire, Scotland.

With close to £1 million being raised since October 2014 through crowdfunding platform Abundance Generation, the project is claimed to be the largest crowdfunded solar programme in Europe.

It’s amazing how keen people are to invest in green projects of this kind, that offer both financial returns and environmental benefits. Once completed, residents will enjoy unlimited use of the generated electricity, significantly reducing their energy bills.
